Given reviews I've read, I seem to be in the minority of readers who enjoyed Grey by Jon Armstrong.
And you know, I don't care. Grey was a revelation -- I haven't read a book so unique in years. It's a mix of sci-fi, high fashion, music, and social commentary. Sure, it's a future-day Romeo and Juliet story but that's what makes it so interesting. Knowing how that story ends keeps you guessing through the whole book. The Pure-H fashion world reminded me of Japan, and Armstrong confirms this suspicion on his website.
I am not doing the book justice with this meandering "review." Just take my word for it and find out for yourself.
